For the many employed ZEP employed in South Africa, they regretebly face very limited possibility of transitionig to the regular immigration through the General Work Permit. The stringent South African Department of Labour requirements are exceedingly challenging and would disqualify almost all of the ZEP holders.

After the deadly War of the Pacific (1879-1884), Bolivia lost its access to the sea, and Peru lost a large part of its southern coast. Forty-five years later, American mediation somehow resolved the border disputes between Chile and Peru. Finally, on 3 June 1929, a diplomatic agreement was signed in Lima.

Recent U.S. decisions regarding the termination of Title 42 (in effect until Thursday, May 11, 2023) and agreements with other countries in the region are generating major impacts that violate the guarantee of Human Rights, particularly the right to request International Protection.

In these years, more than 200 civil society organisations have contributed in community spaces, especially focused on the analysis of USAID investments in the region. Proposals have been generated for exchanges with officials from the US State Department, USAID, the White House and Congress.
