SEPTEMBER 26 - 28: NAVJEEVAN RENEWAL CENTRE - NEW DELHI
Around 220 Jesuit rights activist and their collaborators from South Asia have spent two days to review their past 50 years of commitment in social justice and seek new ways to become relevant to the marginalized. The Jesuits in Social Action (JESA) Convention 2019 was held September 26-27 at Navjivan Renewal Centre in Old Delhi. The Jesuits all over the world have committed to focus on Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAP), which was the fruit of two years of reflection, discernment of Jesuits globally, says Father Xavier Jeyaraj, director of Rome-based Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat.

AUGUST 19-21: FORMATION HOUSE OF SYANTIKARA IN YOGYAKARTA
“August 19-21: The Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) hold a meeting entitled “Celebrating 50 years journey of God´s faithfulness and discerning roadmaps for the next 10 years” The group comprising 24 participants from the Jesuit provinces and regions, JCAP social ministries, and regional and global networks gathered at the Formation House of Syantikara in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from August 19 to 21. The three-day programme was packaged in the form of workshops, individual reflections, group sharing and plenary discussions. It aimed to respond to Fr General Arturo Sosa’s call on the implementation and assimilation of the Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPs), as well as to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES). The meeting culminated with the formulation of the Conference Statement and Call to Action, and plans to commemorate the 50th Golden Jubilee at the province/region and conference levels

From June 3 to 8, 2019, the meeting of the social apostolate of the Jesuit Conference of Latin America (CPAL) together with the Assembly of Networks was held in Guadalajara, México. A day was dedicated to the celebration of the 50 anniversary of the SJES, also from a Latin American perspective. Among others, there was a review of the main milestones of the past years, an analysis of the challenges and opportunities in Latin America. Several proposals for the future were discerned.

APRIL 24 and 25: SAN SALVADOR
On April 24 and 25, 2019, the provincial meeting “Faith and Justice in the Society of Jesus” was held in San Salvador, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJSE). With the participation of 40 people, issues around the celebratory event were addressed. It began with a historical review of the Secretariat of Social Justice and Ecology in the Society of Jesus and in Latin America. Conversations and analysis of the situation in Honduras, Nicaragua continued. The topics of the social apostolate in Central America, the mission of Faith and Justice nowadays, cultures and interreligious dialogue, the care of the Common House and integral ecology and the challenges of Central America were also discussed in several talks and conferences.
