Our common home, the earth, is sick. The pain of environmental damage is not a result of the earth’s will to harm itself but a consequence of human mismanagement of creation.

Stan Swamy Day in Viragalur was a moving tribute to a man who devoted his life to justice and the upliftment of the marginalized.

The GIAN - EcoJesuit Core Group met in Lusaka, Zambia from 8 to 12 July. Growing up I learned about the science of how the bay functioned as an ecosystem. I also learned how the bay’s health was damaged by years of pollution, urban and suburban development, and poor environmental policies.

"INEA was a very conventional school, but at one point, we noticed we were at a "dead end," teaching the same thing everyone else was teaching. Twenty years ago, we realised we had to turn things around and get into thinking, learning, and practising organic farming.

These religious leaders through their functions help the village community be reconciled with God the creator, ancestors and other minor spirits. This brings about peace and harmony in the village community in its temporal as well as spiritual affairs.

The Rarámuri people seek, through their religious life, to recover the original harmony of creation and cooperate with God against the evil that destroys fraternity.
