Mining Divestment Platform
The money held in everyday bank accounts and funds is often used to finance mining projects that commit crimes and injustices across Latin America and the Global South.
As many advocates say that multinational corporations frequently hide the environmental and human rights violations occurring in the world’s peripheries. This supposed progress, they claim, only serves to marty community rights and fuel a culture of discarding. As the encyclical laudato sí says, it strengthens inequality and discarding entire communities and peoples are martyred to feed the profit of large multinational companies.
