Access to quality education, health and other basic services continues to be a problem in both rural and urban areas in India. In spite of numerous legislative bills that have been passed by the government to address these issues, Dalits, Adivasis (Indigenous people), women and other people living in poverty continue to be denied their rights. The government’s lack of political will to implement these laws effectively and a pervasive culture of corruption and discrimination have meant that the people who were supposed to benefit from these laws continue to be inadequately served by the education, health and legal systems of the country. The General Assembly is the highest governing body of the Federation of Fe y Alegria Movement. It comprises 22 member countries, the General Coordination, and the Presidents of the Conferences of Jesuit Provincials of Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe. To enrich the Movement's sustainability, the General Assembly provided input and recommendations to the executive team.
As part of the Federative Leadership Training Plan, the "Advocacy and Defense of the Right to Education from Fe y Alegría" seminar took place.

On 18 October 2023, Fe y Alegría in Ecuador held the opening event to mark 60 years of service to education. More than 700 people from different parts of the country gathered to commemorate the important date.
