Amazon – Jesuits of the Amazonian Preference (BRA) defend indigenous and lay leadership

In the pan-amazonian area, presence of Jesuits has always been highlighted. In fact, last week, in an interview published by Religion Digital, the Cardinal Pedro Barreto, also a Jesuit, defined the Amazon as "the most forgotten area of ​​the planet”. In the case of Brazilian Amazon, Jesuits are currently present in different regions, in what the Society of Jesus calls Amazon preference. The members of this preference group, together with lay collaborators, met in Manaus from December 4 - 7, 2018. Their reflection was about how they express their commitment to the Amazon, and developed an Apostolic Plane for the Preference.
