Kino Border Initiative

At the Kino Border Initiative (IKF) we have the mission of promoting humane, fair and viable human mobility through holistic accompaniment and political advocacy in the United States and Mexico. We strongly believe in migration with dignity; That is why, from humanitarian assistance and advocacy work, we push for fair policies for migrants.

For more than 15 years we have been in the border city of Nogales providing humanitarian assistance to both Mexicans and other nationalities who arrive in Nogales seeking protection and asylum in the United States, and for those who are returned or deported to Mexican territory.

Over the years, our services have grown to meet the needs we observe in the migrant population. From offering a plate of hot food as a welcome, a shelter space, a psychosocial support area or medical care to documenting and denouncing abuses by the US and Mexican authorities against migrants. This allows us to fight for their rights and make visible silenced realities such as family separation or forced displacement, the result of migration policies that dehumanize and exclude.
