The resistance of the Mayan peoples: A hopeful tradition in the face of megaprojects
Walking through the jungle, the trentsipaletic, musicians and somej'abatineleticmake their way; several women and men go by their side, many of them carry ribs on their backs with different materials to make a roof, fire to cook, bottles with drinks, pots, plates and some chickens. As they hurry up in the night, illuminated by the light of the moon - and the odd spotlight that carries some of it - they go up the mountain to the top. Once there, they settle in front of a wooden cross about three meters high, place the roof, put a juncia mat, light the fire and prepare for the ceremony.
