Ignatian Social Thinking Week

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Laudato Si, Jesuits and their mission partners from 12 Ignatian-inspired centers promoting Integral Ecology in Europe gathered at Le Chatelard Eco-Spirituality Center in Lyon. “Ignatian Social Thinking Week” formally began on 18 June when Ireland’s former Minister for the Environment and Climate Change, Eamon Ryan, shared his reflections on the current political context on ecology and possible pathways of action. The 32 delegates then shared their experiences of advancing Integral Ecology in Europe. Throughout the week, in-depth conversations were held using case studies, scenario-building workshops, and the SJES survey findings on the Fourth Universal Apostolic Preference as take-off points. The gathering also offered an opportunity to experience eco-spirituality first-hand. Moreover, it fostered greater collaboration in the shared mission of advocating for social and ecological justice.
