After five decades of neoliberal policies in Latin America and the Caribbean, the growth of inequality and poverty is scandalous. While financial capital increases, human rights are violated and millions of human beings are denied a dignified life. Economic policies generate violence and crises in democracies, forcing millions of people to leave their countries in search of a better life. Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants and peasants are threatened by the voracity of the extractivist model that does not respect their ancestral territories under the passive and complicit gaze of the States. The General Assembly is the highest governing body of the Federation of Fe y Alegria Movement. It comprises 22 member countries, the General Coordination, and the Presidents of the Conferences of Jesuit Provincials of Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe. To enrich the Movement's sustainability, the General Assembly provided input and recommendations to the executive team.
As part of the Federative Leadership Training Plan, the "Advocacy and Defense of the Right to Education from Fe y Alegría" seminar took place.

On 18 October 2023, Fe y Alegría in Ecuador held the opening event to mark 60 years of service to education. More than 700 people from different parts of the country gathered to commemorate the important date.
