The SJES Presents Its 2025 Annual Report

ROME –The Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES) of the Society of Jesus has released its 2025 Annual Report, “The Promotion of Justice is Fueled by Hope”. The report details regional milestones at the conference level, the results of global advocacy, and its commitment to the mission of promoting justice and reconciliation under the guidance of the Universal Apostolic Preferences.

One Body, One Shared Mission

The report highlights the consolidation of network-based collaboration, also known as ‘network-archy’, as a collaborative model that seeks to enrich and support the mission entrusted to us by the Society of Jesus, and to help us act as one apostolic body. With the participation of many institutions from different apostolic areas — social, educational, and pastoral — the SJES presents concrete results in political and social advocacy in response to global challenges, including the right to quality education, justice in mining, accompaniment of the forcibly displaced, and integral ecology.

The report documents the impact of the Global Ignatian Advocacy Network (GIAN) through its four initiatives, as well as the work of the six Conferences of Major Superiors.

In the words of Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, this report is a testimony of how “collaboration and networking strengthen our commitment to serving the Church in the mission of Jesus Christ.” Fr. Roberto Jaramillo, SJ, Secretary of the SJES, reaffirms the commitment to continue promoting advocacy initiatives at the local, regional, and global levels, in order to transform current social and political structures so that they may become an ever-better reflection of justice and charity. He also expresses gratitude for the work of those who serve in the field in contexts of vulnerability.

The SJES invites all apostolic works, collaborators, and partner organizations to consult and share these resources, and to continue promoting a faith that is rooted in social justice and integral ecology.
