Rome – Changes in our Rome Team

We are thrilled to share some significant changes within our rome team during the month of July. As you may know, our office is composed of five people. In addition to the Secretary and his administrative secretary, we have three coordinators: the one for Research and Collaboration, the one for Advocacy and Networking, and the one for Communication.

We will be bidding farewell to our Advocacy and Networking coordinator, Maria Pia Pirelli, who has passionately accompanied this sector for more than 2 years, is relocating to another country. She encapsulates her experience in the office with these words: “Being in the Curia has allowed me to have a global vision of the Society's social apostolate, and to understand all the current challenges in a multicultural framework, especially those related to responding to the environmental crisis, migration, mining, and education for the most vulnerable.”

Over the past four years, the role of Communication Coordinator has been fulfilled by a young Jesuit in formation during his Regency stage. Having completed his two-year term, Boris Foka Wadem is now passing the baton to Milton Mervin Raj, another scholastic from the Chennai Province in India. Reflecting on his time with us, Boris described his experience as one of excellence: “With the difficulties and the joyous moments, I have learned and grown in my life as a person, a Christian, a religious, and as a Jesuit: this is for me excellence in formation.”

We are deeply grateful for their contributions to the mission of the secretariat over these past years. We wish them the best in their future endeavors. Boris, as he steps into his next phase of formation, and Pia, as she embarks on a new journey in a new country with her family. We finally express our gratitude to the Lord who continues to guide and accompany us.
