A faith that does justice, while bringing clarity
During a recent assembly, I invited our students to reflect on the importance of empathy, the value of generous service, the need for critical thinking and the right to respectful free speech in facing a complex and challenging world.
It is easy enough to become self-absorbed in a time like ours, and we are sometimes told that young people may lack the idealism of past generations. This certainly is not my experience. The call to be “men for and with others” finds ready resonance with many of our boys. Moreover, there is an awareness that an individual’s wellbeing itself is linked to the experience of community, and, as social animals wired to live together, to both the way we are with each other and to the just ordering of our society...
