The current approach links climate change directly to poverty and social injustice. It calls for a shift away from fossil fuels—including coal, oil, and gas—to protect shared global resources.
The Role of SJES
The Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES) is a key participant in this effort. SJES integrates environmental advocacy into the work of the Society of Jesus, focusing on how climate issues affect vulnerable populations.

According to a report published by the Climate Action Network (CAN), the group of developing countries, including the Africa Group of Nations, did not support the final draft decision due to the omission of a commitment to triple adaptation finance.
