Latin America – Honduras. Women: alternative solidarity practices
Historically, crises have had different impacts on women’s life, out of three main reasons. First of all, due to the power relationships among men and women; second, due to the so called sexual division of labour, which assigns care activities to women; and third, due to the fact that women belong to vulnerable and forgotten groups, not taken into consideration by the policies of those holding power. However, women resist thanks to their creativity and community, and strive to sustain and transform life with the power of everyday relations and experiences. Is it not time for putting our trust in solidarity practices that help us build community spaces and projects? Is it not time for looking at the community, for weaving community networks? Maybe, reality poses more questions than answers; but women’s situation and solidarity, as well as their analysis and proposals, should be brought into focus. Read more...
