This month of October JENA launched a webinar series on global justice. The webinars bring together relevant decision-makers and practitioners from politics, civil service, international organizations, and civil society to share and reflect on the exponential change needed for the wellbeing of all people and the planet to supercharge and accelerate solutions for sustainable development.

In consonance with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), the Jesuits of North-West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus have observed with great concerns, the poor handling of the youth-led #EndSARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) protest across cities and towns of Nigeria by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and wish to remind the Federal Government and the NPF that:

The Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar has issued a press release condemning last Saturday’s killing and wounding of children at Mother Francisca Nursery and Primary School in Kumba, Southwest Region, by armed individuals who opened fire on innocent children. At least seven children died and 12 others were injured according to news reports by Reuters.

Jesuit Priests and their lay associates working for the Jesuits in Britain protested outside the High Commission of India. The protest was organised by Jesuit Missions and took place from 12.30 – 2:00 pm this afternoon in London. Fr Stan Swamy SJ is a well-known human rights activist. He was arrested and detained on the 8 October by the National Investigation Agency of India.

A network of 250 researchers, journalists, activists, entrepreneurs and expert’s on migration called "GREI250" prepared an advocacy document about the EU “New European Pact on Migration and Asylum” to propose changes for the current migration situation in the EU.

Hungarian Jesuits have joined an initiative focusing on helping families in underdeveloped areas to have a better future. The mission to which the Hungarian Province of the Society of Jesus is now making its contribution, was launched by Franciscan sisters in a village called Arló in the Borsod area of North-East Hungary.

The Jesuits of Vietnam have launched a solidarity appeal to help people who are in need of food, shelter, water, medicines, and other non-food items. The current emergency response is phase one of the Jesuits’ relief programme. They plan to implement a second phase which will involve rebuilding livelihoods and houses.
