Defense, Culture, and Territory: News from Latin America
Accompanying, protecting, and connecting: this is how the commitment of the Jesuit network in Latin America is moving forward. We share two important updates from the region: the recognition of Andean women in their crucial role as protectors of cultural memory and spirituality, and the preparations of the delegation that is already marching forward toward the XII Pan-Amazon Social Forum (FOSPA) in defense of the Amazon.

From the Pan-Amazon Jesuit Service Network (SJPAM), we are thrilled to share our journey toward the XII Pan-Amazon Social Forum (FOSPA), which will take place from August 16 to 22 in Puyo-Quito, Ecuador. This gathering is a vital opportunity to strengthen our resistance against the advance of extractivism, build organizational networks, and develop agendas for the defense of the Amazon.
As the SJPAM Network, we will be participating in person during the first few days in Puyo, and then accompany the initiatives moving toward Quito, where we will hold our own network meeting.
The Indigenous Apostolic Solidarity Network (RSAI) of the CPAL, through an article by Karina Marcatoma (member of the RSAI's ERCRILA and Coordinator of the Jesuit Radio Network in Ecuador), invites us to reflect on the resilience, migration challenges, and the fundamental role of native women in preserving the indigenous cultures of Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia.
