Kursus Pertanian Taman Tani (KPTT) – an agriculture center

Kursus Pertanian TamanTani (KPTT) Salatiga is an agriculture course center run by the Indonesian Jesuit which serves education, social, and ecological ministries. This ministry was established on September 1, 1965. Its purpose is to provide education to the wider community, especially young people, to work in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry.

KPTT is expected to become a reference for many people to develop agriculture, animal husbandry, and ecological attitudes. Through a sustainable and integrated farming model, we also hope that food security in Indonesia will be well maintained.

This ministry is important because it is a means of learning not only for food security but also as a means of shaping the ecological attitudes of many people, especially young people. KPTT is the only Jesuit work in Indonesia that is directly involved in ecological education for many people. This is evident from the large number of young people who come and study at KPTT. Last year, around 400 young people were involved in our activities. Young people cannottruly love the environment without ever having had any ecological experiences. We see this as an opportunity to interact directly with them. For this reason, we organize various agricultural and livestock courses, live-in programs, internships, recollections, and retreats for many groups. Through these programs, we are able to provide ecological education, and we can lead young people to finding God in Farming.
