Pope Leo XIV recently warned that human rights and freedoms are under threat due to the “zeal for war” exhibited by some nations. “Diplomacy based on force gravely threatens the rule of law, which is the foundation of all peaceful civil coexistence” he said.
The webinar will explore the question of how we can play a prophetic role amid a resurgence of imperialism around the world.
Fr. Daniel Mutale, SJ, Executive Director of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection, Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection will unpack this question. A Jesuit priest from Zambia, Fr Daniel holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Fordham University, New York. He participates in the Global Ignatian Advocacy Network to amplify voices from the margins and promote sustainable, faith-driven responses to the ecological crisis. Fr. Mutale’s leadership roles include chairing the Zambia civil society organizations' Debt Alliance and serving on the board of the Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG), a faith-based initiative that works to ensure the integrity of Zambian elections.
