Argentina – Soy Refugio and Toyota Argentina join forces to encourage sustainable production models.
We share this good news from Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes Argentina, an apostolic work specialising in the accompaniment of migrants and refugees in the Province of Argentina-Uruguay. Soy Refugio, a social marketing brand, enables the creation of livelihoods for women, partners with private enterprises to strengthen circular economies, and contributes to the amplification of narratives that connect civil society with the challenges of forced migration in today's world.

After a year of activities of Soy Refugio, a brand managed by migrant and refugee women accompanied by the Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes Argentina, an opportunity arose to work towards a new horizon based on the principle of sustainable production and the promotion of conscious and responsible consumption models that care for the environment.
On this path, Toyota Argentina joined the project to share its work proposal on the circular economy and production that reduces the environmental footprint. As a result, with their support and donation of recalled elements of Toyota vehicles and model discontinuation activities, in 2022, we produced 500 toiletry bags marketed to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
This project enabled income generation for fifteen women, favouring their inclusion and, thus, a dignified livelihood. In addition, the new relationship between Toyota and Soy Refugio led to the beginning of the journey to share narratives about forced displacement due to climate change.
We celebrate this collaborative project with the private sector, expanding the social impact of production and inviting us to adopt and promote models that contribute to reducing carbon footprint.

The Migrants and Refugees Network in Asia Pacific gathered to address migrant and refugee challenges, guided by collaboration, prayer, and Ignatian spirituality principles. Discussions ranged from updates on regional migrant situations to Taiwan's progressive immigrant response, culminating in the finalization of a five-year action plan highlighting the network's dual mission of support for both migrants and its members.
This first publication of 2024 provides an overview of the latest data, changes and trends in the context of most of the region's countries (Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, the United States and Canada).
