Peru – Transforming Inequalities: Empowering Women
The WAYRA Association, a Jesuit social work in Quispicanchi (Cusco, Peru), the Balms Foundation for Children and the Cume Foundation, with funding from the Xunta de Galicia, are developing the International Cooperation project: "Transforming inequalities: Women and adolescents empowered for the transformation of gender inequalities".
This project aims to improve the capacities of women, youth and responsible institutions, in order to reduce the levels of family, social and economic violence against women in rural communities in the Peruvian highlands, present in the districts of Urcos, Huaro, Andahuaylillas and Ocongate in the province of Quispicanchi, Cusco.
Throughout this experience we will work on three important aspects:
- Strengthen the knowledge of the rights of women and young people through a strategy to generate active, participatory and informed citizenship for the reduction of family and community violence.
- Reduce barriers and difficulties in accessing social and health services, especially for women, youth and adolescents.
- Improve training for employment, especially for women, through the
promotion of family and collective entrepreneurship based on the circular
economy.
