Global – Solidarity in a COVID-19 World: CJI Fall 2021 Campaign
Canadian Jesuits
International (CJI) has launched its Fall Campaign, Solidarity in a COVID-19
world, to support our Jesuit partners who accompany poor and marginalized
communities and to foster just relations between the Global North and South.
Our campaign will highlight four projects:
Access to quality education Moran Memorial School - Nepal
Moran Memorial School serves children from a neighbouring tea estate and those who live in surrounding villages – children on the margins of society. Life for these children can be challenging. They often lack basic necessities: housing, sanitation, clothing, food and healthcare. Thanks to the education they receive, young people are starting to break out of the cycle of poverty, isolation and dependency, receiving the knowledge, skills and confidence that encourage them to look for other means of employment.
Education for forcibly displaced people. Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) South Sudan
The Education Program of JRS South Sudan operates in six schools in the city of Yambio and Maban county. The project provides education, as well as meals and other essential items in a safe environment, to 1300 children suffering from the effects of war and forcible displacement. They who have lost everything – a home, their possession, often their family, and their childhood, find hope in a school community.
Rebuilding lives, reconstructing homes Jesuits of Haiti
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Haiti last August 14, the latest in a series of calamities to hit the country in recent years. Thousands have died, many more injured and close to 30,000 families rendered homeless. Our local partners, the Jesuits of Haiti, Foi et Joie and Service Jésuite aux Migrants, implement strategies focused on the reconstruction of homes for the homeless, and helping people rebuild their lives. They support families and communities in Sud and Grand'Anse, the two regions most affected by the earthquake and recent tropical storm Grace.
Defence of human rights Radio Progreso-ERIC (Reflection, Investigation and Communications Team) - Honduras
Radio Progreso-ERIC defends the human rights of people who are persecuted and are victims of widespread poverty, inequality and corruption in Honduras. It promotes economic, social and political alternatives which benefit the marginalized communities they accompany. They strive for social change which benefit those who are most excluded.

Our campaign will culminate on November 30, Giving
Tuesday, with Solidarity: A celebration, anonline concert marking the start of
Advent and our preparations for Christmas.

The General Assembly is the highest governing body of the Federation of Fe y Alegria Movement. It comprises 22 member countries, the General Coordination, and the Presidents of the Conferences of Jesuit Provincials of Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe. To enrich the Movement's sustainability, the General Assembly provided input and recommendations to the executive team.
