Spain – ‘Accenture Program’ Renewed for Two More Years
March 2022 saw the start of a new and ambitious two-year program entitled "Towards a Digital and Sustainable World", which will allow us to reach more than 137,000 people in 19 countries, hand in hand with our main partners, Fe y Alegría in Latin America, as well as the Jesuit social sector in Spain. A program like this, where teams from different countries and with complementary roles in the fields of employment and sustainability will work closely together, is a great opportunity for networking and for increasing the impact of our actions.
We will mainly seek to improve the employment of young people at risk of exclusion, as well as adults outside the labor market. On the one hand, through a wide range of training, ranging from key digital and technological content in new jobs, as well as basic and transversal skills for the world of work, especially in emerging sectors.
These employment trainings will integrate the sustainability approach. Young people will be trained to enter the workforce with environmental competencies that ensure a positive impact of companies on their communities and the planet. We will also promote the development of professional specialties in areas related to green jobs in the training centers we work with.
We will also deepen in the labor intermediation of young people, through agreements with companies, the creation of tools such as insertion platforms, and training to improve their skills for entrepreneurship. The program will provide job opportunities in Accenture itself, as well as in its collaborating companies, which will broaden the professional horizons of young people, who often, due to their exclusion contexts, are unable to access opportunities in line with their qualifications.
The other major line of work of the program will be linked to educational activities with young people in Spain and Latin America on environmental care and sustainability, a novelty in the framework of previous collaboration with Accenture. We want the next generation of leaders to be aware of the importance of protecting our environment and, above all, to have access to the necessary tools to be part of the solution on the road to sustainability. Through the work we carry out in educational centers, we will work on content related to environmental care, and we will encourage active participation by young people for its protection and defense. A traveling exhibition on the Amazon, which will be shown in x cities in Spain, will show us the great ecological challenges that threaten the lungs of the planet. Likewise, the Entreculturas Online School will offer a course on Socio-Environmental Justice that will invite reflection on the challenges we are facing and our role in them.
In addition to this work in Spain, specific actions on ecology and education will also be carried out in the Pan-Amazon region, from advocacy for the defense of indigenous territories, to bilingual intercultural education and ecology projects in Fe y Alegría schools in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil and Venezuela.
