Lok Manch, the people’s platform that has been networking marginalized communities with civil society organizations in 13 Indian States since 2015 to restore dignity and rights to the poor, pays great attention to gender equality issues in a country where 46 per cent of the female population is illiterate, only two out three young girls between the ages of 6 and 17 go to school, where 25 per cent of girls marry at a very young age, and women are often excluded from familiar, social and political life.
