Latin America – Padre Melo, distinguished with a “Champion of Justice” Award

Father Ismael Moreno SJ, affectionately known in Honduras as “Padre Melo”, has been distinguished as Champion of Justice, an award given by the North American organization Carecen to human right activists fighting to promote justice and put an end to impunity. “Padre Melo” leads the Reflection, Investigation and Communication Team (ERIC, by its Spanish acronym) as well as Radio Progreso, both of which have their head office in El Progreso Yoro, a city located in the northern part of Honduras. ERIC and Radio Progreso are Jesuit social works. Their activity is focused to the championing of human rights from the vantage point of territories, women, peasant men and women, and youth. Read more…
