Africa – Child Protection Officers meet again in Nairobi to plan

The survey validation workshop began at 8:30 AM with the introduction of the new CPOs for the various houses of formation in the Conference. The JCAM President, Fr. Agbonkhianmeghe E. Orobator SJ, welcomed all the 23 CPOs. Citing recent shocking revelations of clergy sexual abuse of minors, Fr. Orobator affirmed JCAM’s commitment to the safeguarding and protection of children in all Jesuit institutions in Africa and Madagascar. Furthermore, he noted that JCAM, by its commitment to developing a Conference-wide program and initiative for the protection of children and vulnerable adults, is fulfilling the mandate of GC36 to create a consistent culture of protection in the Society of Jesus.
