Latin America – First Regional Meeting of Indigenous Youth

The First Regional Meeting of Indigenous Youth from Mexico and Central America was held in Casa San Bonifacio, La Esperanza, Quetzaltenango (Guatemala) from 18th to 23rd August. This meeting had been called one year before by the Indigenous Solidarity Network, run by the Social Apostolate of the Jesuit Provincials’ Conference of Latin America (CPAL). The first days of the meeting focused on the subject matter: “Youth facing spirituality and resistance of Originary Peoples”, which allowed more than 100 youngsters from 14 different indigenous peoples in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Salvador and Nicaragua to reflect on both the dangers threatening their peoples and the most important fruits that these bear.
