India – India’s Demonetization and its impact on the poor

It is an established fact that India’s economy is at its worst thanks to the country’s policy makers. Demonetization and Goods and Services Tax (GST) have had a disastrous effect on the lives of India’s citizens. Economists point out that “in the World Bank’s 2017 report on the ease of doing business, India ranked a dismal 130 out of 190 countries in the world” and that “the Centre’s fiscal deficit for April-August 2017 was Rs 5.25 lakh crore, the highest ever for this period in several years”.
