Each morning tor two months in St Ignatius’ Church, Melbourne Jesuit Social Services held a morning vigil for eight men sentenced to die in Indonesia for drug smuggling. Immediately before the executions, the vigil of silent prayer and the lighting of candles ran through the night. Public concern and opposition to the death penalty were focused by the fact that two of the men killed were Australian. Read more…
