Fr. Edwin Gariguez, or Father Edu, is a recipient of one of six 2012 Goldman Environmental Prizes awarded on 16 April for ‘leading a grassroots movement against a large-scale nickel mine to protect Mindoro Island’s biodiversity and its indigenous people.’ Father Edu is a Catholic priest and pastor of the Mangyan Mission.
