Mexico: 20 years of fighting for human rights

The Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez Human Rights Centre (Centro Prodh) in Mexico City, founded during an authoritarian and repressive regime, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. According to Luis Arriaga SJ, the work of the centre “today remains as necessary as ever, as we live in a country marked by grave injustices and inequalities, exacerbated by the intrusion of the military in the area of public security and by the fact that, even today, grave human rights violations go unpunished, for example the happenings in Atenco and Oaxaca”.
