The 17th Convention of Jesuits in Social Action (JESA) was held from 14 to 16 October 2008 in Guwahati in the state of Assam in north-eastern India. Eighty-three Jesuits came together to share their experiences and engage in discussions. One participant reported the aims of the meeting: “The Convention was an occasion to see where we are, to identify the challenges … to listen to new initiatives, to difficulties and obstacles faced. It was a time to revisit the decrees of GC 35 and to make collective decisions on certain directions or orientations.”
