The Church in Latin America and the Caribbean is preparing for the 5th General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate (CELAM) to be held from 13 to 31 May in Aparecida, Brazil. Previous conferences have been held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 1955, Medellin (Colombia) in 1968, Puebla (Mexico) in 1979 and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) in 1992.
