Today the usual morning Mass at 7.00 had a special significance. The South Asian Peoples? Initiatives (SAPI) delegation was entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the liturgy. Sr Dafne Sequeira from Pune gave the homily; she spoke of the widows she works with, and the fact that poverty is the cause of death for many men. During the offertory, the altar was draped with a banner proclaiming that SAPI, a platform of peoples? movements and civil society organisations of Southern India strongly supported by the Jesuits, in the name of the peoples it represents had succeeded in building a bridge between Mumbai and Porto Alegre.
