Lula?s call for a fight against poverty

In a way, he did not let down his supporters. Before a crowd of about 10,000, divided in their sympathies, Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, accompanied by persons from Asia, Africa, Brazil and Cuba, committed himself to reminding world leaders of their promises to eradicate poverty – a theme that, as reported later, has been picked up by many groups and networks. An African woman expressed suffering and hope with force and compassion as she spoke of ?those women from Africa who do not want to die but to live; but we want to live no longer in poverty; it is in your hands to do something; today is today and not tomorrow!?
