Colombia: The Patience of a Potter

In Colombia we have spent many years registering the horrors of war and other forms of violence that are deeply rooted in our everyday lives. We have learned in the most brutal manner the significance of ruptured peace talks and the disheartening lack of options for a negotiated end to the armed conflict. In our social centres, in the University, even in the parishes, poverty, Latin America?s open wound that we see as contrary to God?s plan, keeps challenging us to work for inclusiveness, justice and equity. But today there are more poor people with less hope. What can we learn from this reality? Perhaps God is teaching us that love wins through small achievements, barely visible conquests, slow processes with many setbacks and failures. Perhaps God?s message is of immeasurable value to discover what is possible in the most adverse conditions.
